The dance division prides itself in instilling love and appreciation for dance and our heritage in the community. It is a symbol of Greek and Cypriot culture in the United States of America.

 

Background:

 

Established in 1976 The Pancyprian Dance Division of NY is a non-profit organization founded in 1976. The Dance Division has played a vital role in preserving, showcasing and instilling the love for Cyprus; its culture, traditions, and heritage to many generations of youth here in the United States. First and second generation Greek-Cypriot American children are given the opportunity to learn about the culture of Cyprus, give back to the community and build new relationships with their peers all while instilling a love and appreciation of dance

 

MISSION STATEMENT:

Our mission is to educate, promote and preserve cultural awareness to future generations of Greek- Cypriot American born children in our community. We seek to instill love and appreciation for Hellenism and the Greek- Cypriot culture by teaching the history of our music and individual dances left behind by our ancestors. We empower and foster the drive of our rich heritage through the Greek secret of philotimo and bridge our Cypriot predecessors’ ideals by promoting lifelong connections among the youth and their families through interactions during practices as well as numerous performances, cultural ceremonies and political events throughout the year. Our goal is to maintain the Greek and Cypriot heritage alive through dancing.

 

Please note: Regular attendance and punctuality are vital attributes for all dancers. It is imperative for dancers to attend practice regularly and to arrive at practice on time. Furthermore, expectations, rules, procedures and consequences are intended to keep the dance space environment safe, orderly, and productive. Please respect the rules in so that learning is maximized.
